Doh. Still kicking myself over not going to this one. Even after Elizabeth N offered to buy my beer! Doh. :( It sounded like a blast.

And you're right, Twitter was key to knowing what was going on and who was where... Chicago is near my hometown and it felt like I was almost right there. Except that I just got to hear about the fun instead of see/participate in it.

I second that, it was much more community than ZC. The only thing I found disappointing was that too many of the sessions were beginners / intermediate. But I'm sure they will fix that for the next tek. See ya all at ZC in September.

I do believe you captured everyone's feelings with this post, mine included. :) Hopefully there will be many more conferences like this.

Very true. This was my first time attending tek, and besides the excellent speakers, what will really stick with me are the people and the open atmosphere. I can't wait till next time. Thanks!

Very well said Ben. When I was originally told about php|tek, I was given the disclaimer "it is nothing like ZC, it is more community, and less enterprise." That couldn't have been more true. I came to php|tek because I wanted to experience the community, and that is what I got to do. Not only did I learn a lot from the sessions, but I feel that I grew personally from the social interaction, and that I helped expand and solidify a very strong community.
