After taking a peek at the EFF home page I can see why you expected more. They seem to be involved in a lot of serious issues. Guess this panel just wasn't one of 'em.

Don't they have whole conferences about that?

After looking through your album I was surprised that anything serious at all could come from that bunch ;)

Truthfully, I think my expectations were a bit higher than what they should've been. The description of the panel matched what it was: really just a place for LJers to get together and chat about LJ. I guess it fulfilled that purpose, but since the EFF track didn't have anything else about blogging, then I guess I had hoped that the panel could be about more than just LJ. I was wrong in wanting this.

Perhaps someone can suggest a separate panel for next year that discusses the blogging culture from more of an outside-looking-in viewpoint?

I'll be honest in that I listened to your questions, and I found them to be uninteresting. Your first question was like asking a group of Windows programmers how they felt about notepad. I was surprised at first that you asked such a question. Which pretty much follows the lines of your other questions. I think you were looking for some deeper insightful answers that were just not there, and that is the point, that is what live journal is. While it can be more for some people, on an average, it's average people, like myself, that write about the mundane goings on of everyday life. So you think that I care about microsofts blog? Absolutely not, and most of those people don't care, because it's irrelevant. The same with Friendster. The panel was about LJ, your issue became lost in the fact that you couldn't relate it to the topic at hand, in that, you could have easily asked "Have you ever had your life majorly affected by content in your Journal?" Not name dropping like you did. Again, my point being, this is a journal about LJ users, who are like everyone else you know. These are normal people using it for normal things, and you are expecting some amazing insightful responses, which is exactly what LJ isn't normally about. It'd people being people.
